OFFICE SYSTEMS MANAGEMENT (OSM) - Responsible for administering equipment management programs. Including procurement of office equipment for Washington and District offices, procurement of District office furniture, inventory control, payments to vendors, delivery of reissued equipment, moving equipment between offices, equipment repair and cable configuration. All Washington office equipment will be in place at the time Congress begins the new session. In order to ensure the timely re-installation of computer equipment offices should contact their computer vendor. Your
Customer Account Counselor will be in contact with your office to advise you on information regarding your account. If you need immediate assistance please call us at 225-3994. OSM follows the guidelines set forth in the Users Guide to Purchasing Equipment, Software and Related Services issued by the Committee on House Oversight. The General Services Administration (GSA) jointly supports the miscellaneous services (ie. moving district offices, repairing and refinishing items ordered prior to November 13, 1991, and procurement of furnishings with approval of OSM) needed by the district offices. Specific information on the set up of district offices may be obtained by calling the GSA Congressional Services Representatives in your area.


A Member-Elect may submit written requests or forms to OSM (Download Equipment Requisition Form ) prior to January 3, 1997; however these requests will not be processed until after January 3, 1997. All correspondence regarding purchases or the equipment inventory must have the Members signature or they CANNOT be processed Under the "Open Season" Policy set forth by the Committee on House Oversight, a newly-elected Member inherits the Office equipment inventory of his/her predecessor. Immediately upon taking possession of items, offices should conduct a physical inventory to verify the equipment inventory data provided by OSM. Any discrepancies should be reported immediately to your OSM Counselor . Disposal of unsatisfactory equipment and/or furnishings may be made 30 days after taking office, but must be made within 180 days of the Members taking office or the items become permanently assigned and CANNOT be removed until their financial commitment has been paid. Members should fill out an OSM Removal Form listing the items which are unsatisfactory and ready for removal. OSM will coordinate the removal of these items. Download Removal Form.
