We are pleased to present the following introductory web site to help ease your transition to the U.S. House of Representatives. It covers a variety of topics and is designed to provide all the basic information you need to open your congressional office. We hope you find it helpful and easy to use.

Pins, Parking and Paychecks provides information about your salary and benefits, ID's for you and your family, and your Member lapel pins.

Setting Up Your Office covers key information on opening your office in Washington, D.C. and in your district. Here you will also find useful tips on hiring staff.

The Legislative Process summarizes the workings of Congress, explains how a bill becomes a law and introduces legislative resources that are available to you.

House Operations includes Majority and Minority leadership, the Chief Administrative Officer, the Clerk of the House, The Sergeant at Arms and the Committee on House Oversight, with links to their web sites.

Setting Course is a publication from the Congressional Management Foundation. It is a great source of information to help ensure a successful first year in Congress. It includes chapters on managing your office as well as legislative issues.

And to help make your transition easier, Team One is here for you. Staff members from the office of the Chief Administrative Officer are ready to answer any and all questions you may have and to help refer you to the appropriate resources.

You have already been greeted by your Team One staff member. This same person is assigned to help you throughout the process. Team One also provides a variety of resources such as telephones, computer, photocopier and areas to interview staff in Room B227 in the Longworth Building. This is the Chief Administrative Officer's Information Suite, where Team One is based and where your incoming mail will be delivered throughout the transition.
