Job Summary:
Incumbent serves as the key technical resource for issues involving microcomputer hardware and software and local area networks (LANs). Responsibilities include providing technical expertise in the definition, procurement, configuration and installation of microcomputer local area networks. Incumbent is the key technical contributor in the area of networks, H.I.R.-developed systems and advanced PC applications software, Groupware products, Internet services, video conferencing, voice mail, and E-mail software tools used in the House. Incumbent provides technical guidance to other personnel. This position has no supervisory/managerial responsibilities.

Requirements:
Professional experience with microcomputer hardware and software. Extensive knowledge of local area network and network operating systems in use by the House. Extensive knowledge of personal computer software and hardware for IBM PCS, PS/2, compatibles, and Macintoshes. Experience in the use of database management systems integrated in commercially available software on PCS or mainframe systems. A high degree of skill in installing, configuring, and integrating desktop workstations. Ability to assist other project staff in resolving network-related problems in House offices. Familiarity with services and applications offered by H.I.R. and knowledge of the extent of support available to offices. Experience in maintaining and supporting Novell LANs and NetWare operating systems. Experience in using a variety of communications software packages. Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent work experience.
