FEGLI Mission Statement
The Office of Insurance Programs in the Office of Personnel
Management (OPM) administers the
Federal Employees'Group Life Insurance (FEGLI) Program. The
Office of Federal Employees'Group
Life Insurance (OFEGLI) adjudicates claims under the Program.
OPM's mission is to provide a stable, cost-effective, and quality
program of life insurance to meet the needs of Federal employees,
retirees, and their families.
We strive to provide our customers with timely, accurate, and

helping you meet your life insurance needs.
Like other customer organizations, we want offer each of our
customers the best service we can. To help us do this we have
performance standards we aim to meet.
Our Services
OPM is proud to run the largest group life insurance program in
the world.
OPM interprets the Federal life insurance laws, writes
regulations, and gives advice and help to agencies so that your
agency can process your enrollment and deduct your life insurance
premiums.
OPM contracts with OFEGLI, which pays your claims. Your
Enrollment
Contact your agency (or, if you are retired, your retirement
system) with your questions about your enrollment records and
about your eligibility to enroll in the FEGLI Program or make
changes to your current enrollment. When you call your personnel
office (or retirement system), ask for the person who works with
life insurance benefits.
After your death, your beneficiaries should contact your
personnel office or retirement system to report your death and to
ensure that certification of insurance status is sent to OFEGLI.

* When you use this FEGLI Booklet, you will find it is clear,
factual and gives you the information you need.
* You and your beneficiaries will receive prompt, accurate and
courteous assistance from OFEGLI, which can be reached directly
through a toll-free hotline (1 -800-OFE-GLIA, 1-800-633-4542).
* Once a claim for death benefits or dismemberment is fully
documented, OFEGLI will generally pay it within 1 0 workdays.
