Food Services Organization

Food services in the House of Representatives are administered by the Chief Administrative Officer, under the policy direction of the Committee on House Oversight, through the Office of Food Service, Media and Support Services. Food services include the cafeterias and carry-outs in the Cannon, Capitol, Ford, Longworth and Rayburn Buildings, the Member's Dining Room and Buffet in the Capitol and Catered Events throughout the U.S. House of Representatives. The Office is responsible for reserving banquet and meeting rooms. The Office also manages vending operations throughout the House complex.

The Office of Food Service is jointly managed by Joan DeCain and John Hitzel with the assistance of John Heeley (Vending Manager), Bob Moncure (Accounting Technician) and Octavia Tuohey (Special Event Coordinator). Joan DeCain directs all special event activities and John Hitzel administers the food service contracts and vending operations.

The restaurants, cafeterias and carry-outs in the Cannon, Capitol, Longworth and Rayburn Buildings are contracted to Marriott-Thompson, a partnership of Marriott Management Services, Inc. and Thompson Hospitality, Limited. Marriott Management Services, Inc. is the major partner and provides home office support to the U.S. House of Representatives, as they would with any other account. The local operations are managed by General Manager Bruce Eckmeder and his staff and associates.

The cafeteria and carry-out in the Ford Office Building is contracted to the Skenteris Family, Inc., a family organization headed by Jordan Skenteris, who personally manages the food operations. Mr. Skenteris is assisted in the operation by his wife, daughter and other family members who are on site every day.
